Our Story
In the realm of chemical reactions, simultaneous four-body collisions are exceedingly rare. But when they do occur, special things can happen!
Cultured Analysis is the result of such a collision: two people (Lauren and John), one discipline (chemistry), and a tasty beverage (kombucha)- all finding each other at just the right time. In the Summer of 2019, John started working with a local kombucha brewer, applying his knowledge of chemical analysis to solve problems. About that same time, Lauren joined in…both developing an immediate affinity for the beverage- kombucha! Not only did we find that it tastes great, but that it is also a fascinating chemical and biological system to study. |
Over the next year, both of us continued to hone our kombucha analysis skills while providing regular quality control and problem solving for our local brewer friend. As luck would have it, we were also fortunate to develop a relationship with the good folks at Beyers Analytical Brewing Sciences (BABS), who took on something of a mentoring role for us “in the business.”

In the Spring of 2021, we realized our dream of starting our own company and acquired the testing, research and development, and consulting branches of BABS. So… in short, the old BABS that so many brewers in North America have utilized regularly for analysis and consulting is now Cultured Analysis LLC, based on the East Coast in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
Our ongoing goal is to provide the same level of quality in all aspects of analysis and consulting that clients have come to expect over the years working with BABS.
